The map provided here is based on the postcode of the venue.
Royal mail are very good at allocating postcodes to buildings
but much less good at lakes and rivers. Therefore where a
venue does not really have a postcode I have tried to find a
postcode that is as close as possible to the venue. This might
be that of a nearby hotel or even the village post office. You
should therefore always ensure you have proper directions
for the last half-mile or so to the venue.

Disappointing

I drew a blank but two neighbouring fisherfolk caught one 1lb rainbow each. This is a lovely location but the number of possible fishing sites is severely limited by the amount of reeds and undergrowth. And even then there is the weed to contend with. I feel that the owner has to decide whether this is a fully fledged fishery or a natural lake that is partially used for fishing. The upside is the location and the helpfullness of the gentleman standing in for the owner during my visit. I would return but only if the weed is cleared.

I paid   :  £17
Stayed :  3.5 hours
Caught :  None
Best fly:  Dry sedge
Tactics :  Dry Fly or small nymph on a short leader

First visit to Yew Tree, fantastic setting and lovely mature lakes although some areas cannot be reached due to the flora and fauna. The fish are of very good quality and hard fighting. Water is reasonably clear, saw a few fish taken on dries but I kept to the wet. I found the owner very helpful and decent. Will be returning for sure.

I paid   :  £20
Stayed :  6 hours
Caught :  2 browns & 1 rainbow
Best fly:  pheasant tail
Tactics :  Floating line, 8ft leader, slow retrieve

Great setting and Im sure this is a wonderful fishery most of the time, but even though the hot weather delivers tough fishing, this needs some TLC. Much of the bank (on all 3 lakes) is challenging to fish because of overgrown reeds etc and weed growth in the water limits areas you can fish from. Gave it 3 stars because you just feel it could be good...if only....

I paid   :  £20
Stayed :  5 hours
Caught :  weed
Best fly:  ?

Nice place with a beautiful setting but I feel maintenance is a bit lacking which would improve the fishing experience. Banks and trees need to but cut back as access to the potentially good water is limited and the weed makes many areas totally unfishable. Shame really as it could be something really special with a little thought and care.

I paid   :  £27 for Adult and child ticket
Stayed :  5 hours
Caught :  1 Rainbow 2lb 8oz
Best fly:  Damsel
Tactics :  Fishing floating line with long leader

Have visited this fishery 3 times and never blanked. Typical stock fish of around 2 pounds weight and one nearly 3 pounds. The owners, John and family, are nice folk and this is a lovely place to fish. Start fishing and the staff will come and find you. Floating line and a fly with a bit of weight like a goldhead lure if the fish are not showing on the surface.

A beautiful location. 1 lake and 2 ponds with one pond dedicated to brownies. Unfortunately it isnt maintained as well as it should be with fishing varying from good to awful and problems with weed. Also the swims need more work, last time I went there I almost broke my back when cement tile in a swim slipped in with me on it! Has a lot of potential but needs more TLC
